4 Farmhouse Floor Plans You Need to See Before You Decide

When you think of farmhouse design, you may immediately think of pitched roofs, white siding, and carriage-style garage doors. While these features are staples of traditional farmhouse plans, there can be more variation within the style than you think! From more modern versions of farmhouse design to house plans that blend farmhouse elements with other architectural styles, we at Madden Home Design have several styles to view before settling on your perfect house plan. Take a look at four different variations on widely loved farmhouse floor plans to consider.

4 Farmhouse Floor Plans to See Before You Decide

Interested in the traditional charm of farmhouse style? The Valley View house plan delivers the design you know and love with ample square footage.

For Those Who Love Traditional Farmhouse Style

Traditional farmhouses are beloved for their abundance of natural light, noteworthy design elements, and classic Southern charm. The Valley View house plan offers the beauty of a quintessential farmhouse. With pitched tin roofs, boarded siding, and a spacious front porch, this floor plan welcomes you and your family with comforting farmhouse design.

This four-bedroom house plan has two stories, setting apart two bedrooms on the second floor from the master and second bedrooms on the first. The first floor bedrooms are separated by a large great room for relaxing and socializing, as well as a generously sized kitchen towards the back of the house. Aside from the two upstairs bedrooms, you can also enjoy an extra expansive room that can be used as a gameroom, office, or sitting room. Out back, enjoy grilling or spending time with family on the wide back porch beneath 10-foot ceilings.

For Those Who Love Symmetry

Balance is an important element in your home. But don’t limit this to your decor! The architecture of your home can deliver a satisfyingly symmetrical design as well. If you are searching for farmhouse floor plans with this type of visual balance, The Brusly house plan may be right for you.

Six wooden columns support a tall front porch and pitched tin roof. Upon entering the front door of this four-bedroom home, you are greeted by a great room with an 11-foot ceiling. To the right of the property, you will find three comfortable bedrooms and two baths. To the left of the great room past the kitchen, you can access the master bedroom and bathrooms, walk-in closet, and laundry room. And, an optional bonus room is available above the two-car garage. Use this space as an office, playroom, library, or even additional storage space!

For Those Who Want a Farmhouse With a Twist

Do you love aspects of farmhouse design but are looking for something outside of the style’s traditional parameters? You’re in luck! The Cedar Springs farmhouse plan takes offers farmhouse design with a Craftsman influence.

This house plan is a spacious design with four bedrooms, a three-car garage, and front and back porches. We incorporated traditional farmhouse details like a gabled roofline of slate and tin, board and batten siding, and shutters around the windows. For a twist, we included lodge-like elements such as exterior stone accents and tapered columns leading to the front door. Inside the home, we traded the great room’s traditional high ceilings for a 16-foot vaulted ceiling. And we brought these luxurious elements outside to the grand back porch featuring both an outdoor kitchen and a wood-burning fireplace.

For Those Who Enjoy Streamlined Design

Are you searching for the perfect mix of farmhouse comfort with a streamlined modern design? The Farmstead house plan has a sleek, clean-cut profile with a central pitched roof and single gable. While this design may seem more compact than our other farmhouse plans, rest assured that it does not skimp on square footage. With straight-cut wooden pillars, hardi-plank siding, and modern doors and windows, this plan satisfies lovers of modern farmhouse design.

We designed this house plan with a deeper format than traditional wider farmhouse floor plans. Three of the four bedrooms are located at the front of the house, one with a private bath and two that share a hall bathroom. To the right of the family room, you can find the kitchen, dining room, and laundry. To the left of the family room at the back of the house, find the large master bedroom and bathroom. You can also spend time on the generous rear porch beneath a 10-foot ceiling!
